Boilers and In-Floor Heating

Boiler systems can use both radiation and convection heat in order to warm a building. Boilers are more consistent in offering warmth and comfort, coupled with high energy efficiency and require low maintenance in larger applications. Boilers can be used to great effect in homes, however they are more often employed in larger spaces such as schools, hotels, apartment buildings, condominiums, offices, and industrial settings (warehouses, manufacturing plants, mines, etc.).

How Do

Boiler Systems Work?

Boilers heat water. The water is then turned into steam or hot water. The steam heat moves through pipes into the rest of the house and is dispersed through radiators. The hot water versions move water through baseboard radiators or radiant floor systems, or they heat air via a coil. Boilers can run on various energy sources, including natural gas, oil, electricity, and wood.

Why choose boilers?

  1. Boilers usually use less fuel to heat your home, which means potentially lower energy costs compared to a furnace.
  2. More consistent heat: This could be a big consideration when pondering whether to get a furnace or boiler.
  3. Less operational noise: Boilers are generally quieter than furnaces because you don’t hear the sound of hot air blowing.
  4. Less maintenance: Boilers do not have filters that require cleaning, for instance.
  5. Better air quality: Since boilers don’t blow air, they don’t spread dust or allergens. They also don’t dry out the air as much as blown hot air would.

The cost to remove your old boiler depends on the size and difficulty of the removal from your basement.

In -Floor Heating

In-floor heating, also called radiant floor heating or underfloor heating, is a luxurious home feature and a popular trend in new housing, as well as in renovations that focus on clean, comfortable, design-led living.

In-floor heating gives you the freedom to design your home as you wish, making the most of all the wall and floor space. And you’re still free to choose the floor type that you want as underfloor heating works well with laminate, wood, tile, stone or carpet

There’s no denying underfloor heating is the coziest way to warm your toes in our long Saskatchewan winters!
